Science on Tap Portland

I was invited to be a featured speaker for Science on Tap, where I spoke to an audience of nearly 100 people at the Alberta Rose Theater in Portland. The first half of my talk centered on wildland firefighting (my experiences of it as well as general tactics/strategies and challenges facing wildland firefighters), while the second half was all about the fire ecology of West Cascade ecosystems, in addition to how we can prepare for wildfire on the Westside.

Intentional Fire Website

Provided content direction and creation for the Climate and Wildfire Institute’s standalone, multimedia feature about Intentional Fire. Included managing and coordinating with writers, sourcing imagery and design assets, as well as general copywriting and editing.

Flylords Interview on Fire and Fish

Released as part of a Flylords collaboration with the Forest Service/Smokey Bear. Accompanying story can be found under the “writing” tab.

American Wildfire Experience Grant Recipient

AWE provides grants for creatives who work (or have worked) as a wildland firefighter. I was fortunate to receive two grants from AWE—the first resulted in the a project in 2019 titled “The Women Before Me,” which can be found on my blog, while the second supported the creation of Life with Fire Podcast in 2020.
